Every single night when I ask my kids what they want for dinner I get one of two answers – spaghetti or pizza.
Every. Single. Time.
We have given both Instant Pot Spaghetti and Instant Pot Pizza a try and have loved them, but sometimes you just have to switch it up. That my friend is where this Instant Pot Goulash Recipe comes in.
When my kids request spaghetti for the millionth time I throw this beef goulash into the Instant Pot and call it a night.
Instant Pot Goulash
This last month I have been on a mission to make it to the gym every single day.
It has been the perfect solution for breaking my kids habit of heading straight to the electronics after school while helping me loose the 30 pounds I put on during my last pregnancy.
The downside? I am a scatterbrain. Meal planning is not my strength.
And when you have five kids to feed not planning ahead means fast food more nights than I would like to admit.
One of the things that I absolutely adore about this Instant Pot goulash recipe is that dinner is done in under 15 minutes.
That is the perfect amount of time for nightly reading homework and quick enough that we can eat at home even on those nights that I forget to plan ahead.
One quick note about this Instant Pot goulash before you get to cooking; very few of our family recipes have a secret ingredient, but this one does.
While it may stand out as weird, adding soy sauce into this Instant Pot Goulash unleashes the magic and fills this dish with all sorts of YUM.
You could leave it out if you wanted, but personally I would never make goulash in my pressure cooker without it 😉

- 1 lb ground beef
- 3 cups elbow noodles
- 1 large white onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 15- ounce cans tomato sauce
- 2 15 ounce cans diced tomatoes
- 2 tbsp Italian seasoning
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 1/2 cups water
- salt and pepper to taste
- Turn Instant Pot on to sauté and allow the pot to heat up. Once the pot is hot, add in ground beef, garlic, and onion. Cook until meat is browned.
- Once meat is browned, drain the fat.
- Return the meat to the pot and add in tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, soy sauce, water, and noodles.
- Seal the lid on the Instant Pot and turn it to "Manual" high pressure for 4 minutes.
- Once done cooking, quick release and serve with cheese!
